'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the thrilling closing stages of Swansea's epic comeback victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a fan's glasses following the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative strike from 25 yards, and the defender quickly converted the loose ball before racing off toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with supporters swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory sealed an incredible comeback given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the final 45 minutes. In the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win booked a upcoming fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that far out," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right flank after Orient changed shape. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who praised the way Orient played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It appears that they always find their target and they are adept at dictate and slow down a game. You can think you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be alert every second of the game. It requires a tough attitude and focus just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has swiftly done the same in south Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at fourth-tier Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that maturation for his team and nation, shining for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including home and away fixtures against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his eye for a killer pass.

Early Days

This represents a remarkable path for the player from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his father, his father, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

The player's only game for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they competed on an plastic turf and the arena covering was sealed owing to conditions of -15C. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was cold out there," he comments, chuckling. "The week before, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "It was relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it got to the point where I believed I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a minibus driven by club employees, the transport team, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to interact with the lads but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and driving. Franco likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on the Tube after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
